Just as one project ends, another one begins at the moment. Halton Haven hospice (website) have contacted me to re-develop their website to promote user activity and interactivity. After a first meeting this afternoon, I have worked alongside them to outline their aims, and functionally requirements on A2. They require social networking to play a large role, as most of the build up of fundraising events would benefit to connecting at new levels with the audience.
Each department will be responsible for its own section, so a content management system is required, as well as a blog. The events coordinator, ciarian has requested that the fundraising section is ‘funky’ and has a voice of its own whilst still complying with the corporate guidelines.
The age range of the websites users is very board, from young people finding out about volunteering to older people looking for information regarding the hospice, and its services such as bereavement counselling. Therefore in some respects the website needs to have some refinement and also compile with the AAA accessibly guidelines set out by the W3C.
The initial deadline for the design only is the 30th April 2010 so that they may present to the trustees. For this they have requested 3 different designs.
I feel that this is an ideal project for me as I can bring together my past fundraising knowledge when working for other local hospices together with my design and coding skills.
